MAYDAY – A Call for HUMANITY

MAYDAY VZW is a living bridge between art, humanity, community, and cooperation in Belgium, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and beyond.

Created from lived experiences of loss, struggle, resilience, and the belief that people should help rebuild each other instead of standing alone, MAYDAY grew through the stories of families, friends, children, and many people in need whose struggles deeply touched us. We saw how many people feel unheard, isolated, exhausted, forgotten, or left behind by society, and we decided to turn that pain into something meaningful for children, families, and communities around the world.

Our mission is to build a human network where people can connect, exchange knowledge, support one another, and help create places where children and families feel safe, respected, useful, and connected again. Through Centre Amani and future community projects, we support children, education, culture, music, sports, humanitarian aid, healing spaces, agriculture, environmental restoration, and collective rebuilding together with volunteers, artists, creators, scientists, educators, entrepreneurs, and people searching for meaning, direction, and hope.

Our hearts are with all children and innocent civilians living through war, bombardment, occupation, forced displacement, hunger, poverty, persecution, and humanitarian crises. We stand with the children and families of Gaza, Lebanon, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Sudan, Ukraine, and every other place where innocent people are made to suffer because of war, violence, hatred, or political decisions beyond their control. No child should have to hide from bombs, lose a parent, go hungry, flee their home, or grow up surrounded by fear. Every child deserves safety, dignity, education, love, and a future.

Humanity must always come before political interests, power, money, or alliances. Violence against innocent civilians must stop. We believe that everyone reasonably suspected of war crimes, crimes against humanity, or other serious violations of international humanitarian law should be independently investigated and, where the evidence supports it, brought before a competent national or international court—regardless of nationality, political influence, wealth, religion, or position. No leader, government, army, armed group, or institution should ever stand above the law.

MAYDAY is a universal call to humanity. It is a humanitarian movement that brings together artists, scientists, doctors, teachers, humanitarian organisations, volunteers, environmentalists, innovators, entrepreneurs, farmers, spiritual leaders, and every person who believes that human life, animal life, and the protection of our planet must always come before power, profit, division, hatred, and war.

We can NO longer continue living in a world where billions are found for war, weapons, military expansion, surveillance systems, massive data centres, and technologies that increasingly monitor our daily lives, while millions of children still go hungry, families are forced to flee their homes, nature is destroyed, and innocent lives are lost every single day. Imagine what humanity could achieve if those same financial resources were invested in peace, healthcare, education, scientific innovation, environmental protection, clean water, sustainable agriculture, and rebuilding communities instead of destroying them.

War destroys far more than cities. It destroys families, cultures, dreams, wildlife, forests, rivers, ecosystems, and the future of generations yet to come. Every missile, every explosion, and every act of violence leaves scars not only on humanity but on the Earth we all share. There is no Planet B. There are no replacement children. There is only one humanity, one shared home, and one shared future.

Our vision is to unite people across the world through music, art, culture, science, education, dialogue, humanitarian action, and international cooperation. Not as entertainment, but as a global expression of solidarity. A place where humanity stands together, beyond politics, beyond religion, beyond borders, and beyond ideology, to remind the world that compassion has no nationality and that every innocent life has equal value.

MAYDAY calls upon every citizen to stop accepting the unacceptable. We believe humanity is stronger than fear, stronger than hatred, stronger than division, and stronger than the interests that continue to fuel conflict while innocent people pay the highest price. We call for courage instead of silence, dialogue instead of violence, cooperation instead of destruction, and compassion instead of indifference.

This is more than a gallery. It is more than an organisation. It is a movement for children, humanity, peace, justice, dignity, and hope. A place for people who refuse to look away while innocent lives are destroyed and who still believe that together we can build a better future for all living beings.

Humanity has declared a MAYDAY. Silence is no longer an option.

Imagine...

Imagine, just for one day, that the world stopped arguing and started listening.

Imagine every city, every village, every church, every mosque, every synagogue, every temple, every school, every concert hall, every theatre, every public square, every radio station, every television network, every social media platform, and every voice choosing humanity over hatred.

Imagine millions of people standing together—not to celebrate, but to remember every innocent child, every family, every civilian, every humanitarian worker, every animal, and every life forever changed by war.

Imagine musicians across the world performing at the same moment, not for fame or profit, but because humanity needs a voice louder than bombs.

Imagine artists painting hope instead of grief.

Imagine filmmakers documenting courage instead of destruction.

Imagine scientists sharing knowledge instead of building weapons.

Imagine governments investing in peace instead of war.

Imagine children growing up knowing music instead of sirens.

Imagine a generation remembered not for the wars it fought, but for the peace it chose.

This is the world MAYDAY believes is still possible.

Not because it will happen on its own.

Because ordinary people decide that enough is enough.

One voice can inspire another.

One city can inspire another.

One nation can inspire another.

Until HUMANITY answers its own MAYDAY.
