MAYDAY VZW
Art • Humanity • Community
A creative and humanitarian platform connecting art, people, and global community projects.
What is MAYDAY?
MAYDAY VZW is a Belgian humanitarian and cultural initiative connecting art, community and sustainable projects between Europe and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Part of the proceeds from exhibitions, art sales and events helps support Centre Amani and future community projects.
Who's May?
MAYDAY VZW is a living bridge between art, humanity, community, and cooperation in Belgium and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Created from lived experiences, loss, and the belief that people should help rebuild each other instead of standing alone.
The idea for MAYDAY grew through the stories of family, friends, children, and many people in need whose struggles deeply touched us and made us realise how many people feel unheard, isolated, exhausted, or left behind by society.
Our mission is to build a human network where people can connect, exchange knowledge, support one another, and help create places where children and families can feel safe, respected, useful, and connected again.
Through Centre Amani and future community projects, we support children, culture, music, education, sports, humanitarian aid, healing spaces, agriculture, and collective rebuilding together with volunteers, artists, creators, and people searching for meaning, direction, and hope.
This is more than a gallery.
It is a place for people who still believe humanity can do better.
Dedicated to all the souls we lost too soon, and in loving memory of Sofie Schellynck, mother of Wolf Deduytsche, son of Sven Ilunga Deduytsche.
Built with love for our children — including my lovely daughter Kiki — and for all families trying to find light in difficult times.
With Love May(day) xx
